The News Biz: The Truth
I really know my current events. The main reason is that I watch Cable News and scan The Drudge Report.
Like most Americans, I don’t read a newspaper, except on a Sunday, when I read the comics and a few sections in Parade Magazine. What really upsets me is that so many people think we need newspapers to get news. However, I will tell you that much of the in-depth investigative reporting comes from newspapers. But so what. I would rather not know about the mexican immigrants’ fingers ending up in the chicken fingers at some restaurant. Newspapers are dying, and that is that. As for Network news (CBS, ABC, NBC) they are all the same in my opinion. Katie Couric is OK, but i would prefer Fran Dresher for an anchor. Brian Williams and Charlie Gibson do a good job.
However, the real $$$ is in cable news. MSNBC sucks. The only shows I can watch are Tucker (Tucker Carlson) and Hardball (with Chris Matthews. I only watch the show somwtimes, but I find it entertaining.) I can also watch Morning Joe, though, which is there best show in the am hours. Dayside programming sucks, as do Olberman and Dan Abrams. MSNBC relies on Jail Documentaries too much.
CNN sucks too. I can’t watch any show on there. Wolf Blitzer is about as charismatic as a potato. Larry King is a potato. Lou Dobbs is OK, but he is too much a populist. Anderson Cooper is pretty good for a few minutes, until he laughs and sounds like a little girl. The problem with CNN is the catch-phrases. "The Best Political Team in Television" and "Keeping them Honest." They are overused and uncreative. Rely too much on stupid technology.
Fox News is the best. OK, the graphics suck. They have catch-phrases too, but I like them. They have the most Charisma. Brit Hume is a human. He does not rely on fancy and annoying computer animations for election nights. Shepard Smith is a very good anchor. The contributers they have are fun. The network’s personalities are just more human.
Many people rely on the internet, but hte problem is the lack if being able to just sit down and watch a screen for a while. I don’t feel too well after staring at a computer screen for a while.

Hi cornycob,
I just clicked on your URL from over at outsidecablenews. It’s great that you and Terance (I believe) have sort of picked up where Spud left off. Looks like you’re covering some good topics.
I’ll be back to visit!
